Recovery ALIVE!
Recovery ALIVE prioritizes the Power of Jesus through the Holy Spirit to raise Hope From The Dead. Recovery ALIVE is an organic, living program, representing a living God.
Recovery ALIVE works through a 12 step recovery process to promote healthy change centered around “3 P’s”, the POWER of Recovery, the PEOPLE of Recovery, and the PROCESS of Recovery.
Our program harnesses the unchanging truth of Jesus Christ and His word to a living, organic process, in order to reach and ministry to an ever-changing world.

Welcome to hope.
Recovery isn’t just for drugs and alcohol. We all have habits, attitudes, coping mechanisms, past hurts etc. that we wish weren’t part of our life, but sometimes, we just can’t figure out how to shake them.
Recovery ALIVE! is a Christian 12-step program that tackles the chains that keep us weighed down so that we might find freedom in Christ.
Join us each Friday first for food, then to dive into a loving community that is working together through the power of Christ to come to a place of recovery.
Date: Every Friday
Time: 6:00-7:30 PM, doors open at 5:30 PM
Location: Open Door Community Church, 1705 6th Ave, Sterling, IL 61081

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is there childcare?
A: Childcare is available by prearrangement only. Childcare is available for kids ages 12 and under. Our childcare is run by a background checked adult who is assisted with teens who are part of Sauk Valley Community College’s Impact Program. If you need childcare, please complete this form.
Q: When do doors open?
A: Doors will open at 5:30 if you’d like to get comfortable and connect ahead of time.
Q: What happens from 6-7:30?
A: The breakdown of the schedule looks like this:
→ 6-7:00: Power Group (Large Group Worship), which includes music, a message or recovery story, and an opportunity to commit to starting (or restarting) your recovery journey.
→ 7:00-7:30: People Groups, we break into men’s and women’s groups for a time of sharing and reflection. Men are in the parlor, women are in the chapel.
Q: I’ve tried Celebrate Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous, or a different recovery program before. How is Recovery Alive different?
A: First of all, we are so glad you’re considering giving recovery another shot! Second, Recovery ALIVE is different in 3 ways (check out this video here for an explanation from the founder). First, we rely on the living power and biblical principles of Jesus Christ for personal transformation. Christ is our higher power. Second, recovery is a process for healing any brokenness or pain – not just drugs/alcohol. Third, the Recovery ALIVE! handbook is a powerful tool that gives you everything you need to move through the 12 steps in as little as 16-18 weeks instead of 12 months while being more complete, direct, and in-depth. Meaning, it’s twice as effective in half the time.
Q: How do I get the Recovery ALIVE! handbook?
A: If you want it shipped directly to you, you can purchase them on Amazon. Otherwise, copies of the handbook will be available each Friday for a suggested donation of $15.
Q: This sounds great. How do I get involved?
A: One of the powerful parts of recovery, regardless of where you are in the journey, is finding meaning and hope in serving and volunteering. We need volunteers for set up, leading worship, sharing testimonies, leading people groups, clean up, childcare, etc. We’d love to get you plugged in as soon as possible. Reach out to Charles at charles@opendoorcommunity.church to talk about where you’d like to get plugged in! If you’d like to donate to the program, you can give through this secure giving link.

Located between Sterling High School and Challand Middle School in Sterling, IL.
